Salt Pregnancy Test

Salt Pregnancy TestFinding out you’re pregnant can be really exciting and/or nerve-wracking. As soon as we feel some random symptoms we want to test.

But what if there isn’t a test in the house, it’s late at night and the stores are closed or you have no way to get to the store?

Well, that’s where basic items that you have at home can come in handy until you can go out and get an actual pregnancy test or get to your doctor.

There are many different homemade pregnancy tests out there with varying levels of accuracy (meaning that a lot of people received the correct result because these are by no means scientifically proven).

For this one, however, all you need is a little bit of salt.

Note: homemade tests are not reliable and should only be used for entertainment purposes

Best Time to Test

Like all pregnancy tests, the best time to test for pregnancy is in the morning. This is when the highest concentration of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) will be detected.

So, especially if you are trying to get it done before anyone else wakes up, this will be the best time for you. Another thing to consider is that you want to make sure you are waiting long enough after ovulation to test.

Wait at least until the first day of your missed period. While many store-bought pregnancy tests state that you can test five days (some even 6 now) before your missed period, you might be testing too soon and the levels aren’t high enough yet. Try again the next day if this is the case.

How to Test

Good morning! That’s your reminder to take the test when you wake up with your first trip to the bathroom of the day.

To start off, grab yourself a small clear sample and collect a sample of urine. Then add about three-quarters of a teaspoon of salt and wait for about 2 minutes while watching for any reactions.

Results!

If there is a reaction between the urine and the salt that looks like curdling milk, this means you are pregnant!

Congratulations! If you don’t notice a reaction then you aren’t pregnant, or it could be that you tested too soon as well.

Sometimes we can miscalculate when we ovulated and thereby conceived. So have some patience and it still might be your turn.

Is it Accurate Though?

The salt pregnancy test has been around for a while and for some it may be the first option for testing for pregnancy.

What you should be aware of is that this test is not based on any scientific evidence and should only be used for entertainment purposes.

In fact, experts claim that homemade tests in general don’t work and instead suggest using urine pregnancy tests which are very reliable.

Although salt test can be cheaper than buying multiple urine pregnancy tests, they could potentially cause emotional harm if giving you false results.

Many women will use it just for the laughs. If that’s your goal, then go have some fun testing with salt!
